In 2010, SFCG began building its engagement in Nigeria, initiating a multi-year conflict transformation program, utilising media and support to civil society in order to expand and deepen the impact of the Common Ground approach in Nigeria. SFCG has established a permanent presence in Abuja as an operational base for a number of initiatives comprising the country programme.  SFCG works to support peaceful resolution of conflict in regions of Nigeria such as the Niger Delta, the North East and North Central/Middle Belt.  Summary of PositionThe Senior Programme Manager will work with SFCG's senior leadership and program teams to design and implement SFCG strategy for the region and ensuring that all projects in the region address real needs and contribute to the organisation’s national, regional and global strategies. The position entails strategic development and management; team leadership and management; programme development and management; financial, operations, and administration oversight; security management; stakeholder and donor management and representation. The position requires an experienced conflict transformation, peace building or development expert, conversant with project management cycles and compliance requirements of various donors. The position holder will be a seasoned planner and experienced conflict and context analyst capable of steering various projects in the Middle Belt to respond to real peace, security and conflict transformation needs. The Senior Programme Manager must have advanced diplomacy skills and capable of negotiating with challenging stakeholders. The position holder advises the Country Director, Deputy Country Director on programme needs, strategies, staffing issues, local context and dynamics. S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director and closely with the Country Director, and other senior managers. The position holder currently supervises a Program Manager, Project Coordinator, Finance and Accounting Coordinator; Logistics and Administration Associate Coordinator. The position holder will be part of SFCG’s Leadership and Management Team (LMT) in Nigeria.  Duties and Responsibilities Sub-office management:Ensures smooth running of Jos Sub-Office including good management and supervision of staff, finance and administrative matters, and security according to SFCG rules and procedures;Is accountable for appropriate use and management of financial and other  resources of Jos office;Promotes team work, collaboration and synergies within Jos office teams and staff in other SFCG offices;Ensures the integrity of financial systems, review of budget requirements and the consistent application or rules and regulations;Ensures timely and regular reporting; andEnsure adherence to all SFCG procedures and regulations in the Middle Belt area. Representation and coordination:Under guidance of the Deputy Country Director, represents SFCG in the Middle Belt;Provides orientation of SFCG at local level and supervises all projects in Middle Belt;Provides strong coordination support to NGOs, partners, and national authorities through establishment of wider consultation and collaborative processes to strengthen peace architecture and transformation of conflicts in the Middle Belt;Responsible for the coordination of projects;Be SFGC’s media contact in the Middle Belt when delegated by the Deputy Country Director or Country Director; andRepresent SFCG with donors in the Middle Belt, in absence of Deputy Country Director or Country Director Programme strategy, development, and planning:Responsible for implementing SFCG strategic directions in the Middle BeltLeads and collaborates with relevant staff in other SFCG offices for quality programme development and planning;Coordinate new business development, including coordinating development of concept notes and proposal; andAdvises the Deputy Country Director, Country Director on programme needs. Programme oversight, quality assurance, reporting:Ensures proper implementation of projects based on continuous monitoring and analysis of: the most critical peace and conflict transformation needs; partner capacities; operational environment; and security issues.Leads SFCG  programme and facilitates attainment of expected results in Middle Belt in close collaboration with the Deputy Country Director;Ensures effective application of results-based management methodologies.Monitors Middle Belt project work-plans, effectiveness and achievement of results;Monitors the context regularly and draft regular context updates and steer the programme activities to meaningfully address needs in the context.Ensures all donor and internal reports are submitted within internal deadlines and with expected quality;
