Save the Children’s mission is to Inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.We are seeking young and vibrant Youth Corpers to support our various projects: Job Title: Stabilization Care Doctor (Assistant)Job I.D: sav-66777Location: BornoRole PurposeThe Stabilization Care Doctor will ensure quality of services in the stabilization centre (CMAM programme) through strengthening capacities on the clinical management of SAM and facilitating integration of services related to newborn and child health.With the support of the Stabilization Centre Doctor and the Senior Nutrition Advisor, He/She will oversee the day-to-day activities/services provided to admitted cases (and Caregivers) at the Stabilization Centre and will generally support the documentation and stock-management of commodities, medicines/consumables and data tools.Key Areas of AccountabilityUnder the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, the Stabilization Care Doctor will support;Provision of high quality care to complicated SAM cases:Provide clinical care to complicated cases of SAM admitted at the Stabilization Centre (SC).Ensure clinical care provided at the SC is in accordance with the National guidelines for In-patient Management of SAM.Mentor and provide on-the-job training on stabilization care and documentation to nurses and other health workers deployed to the SC to ensure:Respect of approved protocols for management of acute malnutritionCorrect use of programme monitoring and evaluation (recording) toolsAppropriate use of resources, stock control and ordering procedures.Programme Management and Documentation:Monitor the In-patient Management of SAM.Supervise the use of medicines, medical supplies, nutrition-related commodities and data tools in the SC.Participate in the development and review of programme monitoring and evaluation tools where necessary.Ensure timely collection, compilation and analysis of quality data as well as production of quantitative and qualitative reports regarding all SC activitiesEvaluate regularly the impact of the activities and propose changes for improvementPrepare weekly and monthly activities’ reports, and any other ad hoc report that may be requiredSupport the supply chain management and Forecast for Medicines, Medical supplies, Nutrition Commodities (F-75, F-100, Resomal and RUTF) and Data tools:Monitor the stock of Commodities, medicines, medical supplies : calculate needs, decide quantities to be delivered to the Stabilization Centre,Support procurement in conjunction with the Stabilization Centre Doctor in charge, Nutrition in Emergency Advisor, Logistics and Warehouse OfficerEnsure Coordination and Collaboration with other programmes related to ewborn and child health (immunization, HIV, malaria, newborn care, etc) and with relevant authorities at both State and LGA levels:Participate in stakeholder meetings on crosscutting health issues.Facilitate integration of services for a holistic approach of SAM by working in collaboration with partnersPromote integrated care in the SC.Institutional Capacity Building:Provide on the job training and mentoring for staff in SC to ensure:Respect of approved protocols for management of acute malnutritionCorrect use of programme monitoring and evaluation (recording) toolsAppropriate use of resources, stock control and ordering proceduresPromote integrated care in the SC.Representation and Relationships:Participate in Nutrition related Meetings, Seminars and Workshops and feed information acquired back into programming.Work closely with other thematic teams in Nigeria Country office and the Borno State offices.Other:Other ad hoc tasks as requested by Line Manager.Skills, Experience and EducationMedical Degree (MB,BS; MB, BCh) from a recognized/accredited University in NigeriaAt least three years post-graduation experiencePrevious experience with other local and international NGOsExperience in Nutrition and in community based programmesTraining and experience on treatment of acute malnutritionAdvocacy and logistics experienceComputer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)Fluency in English and Hausa, spoken and writtenAbility to work in partnership with government and other NGO staffGood interpersonal skillsAbility to work within a team settingIndependence, adaptability and flexibility with good workload management, multitasking and ability to meet tight deadlinesExcellent communication skillsAdditional QualificationsWork experience in health/public health and or in a health/public health organisation, including as a trainer.Experience with providing institutional support and technical assistance to development partners, government/community institutionsAdditional Skills:Ability to work effectively both independently (with minimal supervision) and as a member of a teamCommitment to gender equity, child rights, community empowerment, and grassroots development approachesEffective planning and organising skillsEffective interpersonal skills – oral and written communication skills.Method of ApplicationInterested and qualified applicants should:Click here to apply online
