Access to Justice (“A2Justice”), founded in 1999, is a justice advocacy group working to defend rights of equal and non-discriminatory access to courts of law, expand access of vulnerable people to equal and impartial justice, attack corruption in justice administration, support legal struggles for human dignity and disseminate legal resources that help achieve these purposes.We seek an exceptional candidates to fill the position below:Job Title: Project Director (Deputy Executive Director)Ref: PD (DED)Location: LagosDuration: One-and-a-half year period (may be renewable)About the ProjectThe project seeks to strengthen achievement of criminal justice reforms, improve protection against torture and ill-treatment through capacity building and expand access to legal assistance for poor people, all of which will take place in three jurisdictions.The position is based in the organization’s office in Lagos and will require occasional travel outside of Lagos State.Job DescriptionOperating from the Organization’s Lagos office, the candidate will take overall responsibility for implementing the project and supervising all of its staff; S/he will coordinate and oversee project activity planning and programming, achieving agreed targets within specified timelines, identify and manage the spectrum of relationships that have vital implications for the success of the project, as well as manage the issues, challenges and opportunities arising during the implementation of the project.  In addition to these, the candidate will:Act as the chief operating officer of the organization when requested, and discharge all the responsibilities and functions of that office which include:Providing oversight, supervision and guidance for programme/project staff;Managing the organization’s relationships with a broad group of institutional stakeholders;Implementing/coordinating programmes for successful delivery of results within assigned timelines;Participating in strategic planning and budgeting meetings as well as  coordinating growth and fundraising activities;Coordinating staff performance evaluations and stimulating improved performance through appropriate interventions.
