Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.We are recruiting to fill the position below:Job Title: TA Child Protection Officer (Harmful Practices), NOBJob Number: 521064 Location: AbujaWork Type: Temporary AppointmentFor every child, ProtectionHow can you make a difference?Under the supervision of the Child Protection Specialist (HPs), the Child Protection Officer (HPs) will coordinate the implementation of the Spotlight Initiative Programme activities in the focus states and will contribute to the overall work of the Child Protection section which includes ending all forms of violence against children, girls and women.Major ResponsibilitiesTechnical support for Social Norms change to ensure children, women and girls, who are victims or at significant risk of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation, including those in humanitarian settings, receive quality preventive and responsive services from a functioning child protection system at federal level and in targeted states by contributing to the following outcomes:Strengthening the Legislative and policy frameworks on all forms of violence against women and girls and harmful practices are in place and translated into plansSupporting the development of systems at national and sub-national levels to deliver evidence-based programmes that prevent and respond to violence against women and girls and harmful practices, including in other sectors.Strengthening gender equitable social norms, attitudes and behaviours change at community and individual levels to prevent violence against women and girls and harmful practicesStrengthening access to quality essential services including for women and girls who experience violenceCollect and analyze quality, disaggregated and globally comparable data on different forms of violence against women and girls and harmful practices,More specifically, the incumbent will:Design and develop programme strategies for ending violence against children, women, girls including child marriage:Design and formulate project proposals and initiatives;Draft inputs to country strategy documents, briefs, policy dialogues and other documents related to ending violence against children, women and girls and child marriage.Implement activities related to ending violence against children, women and girls including child marriage:Technical implementation of the programme ensuring synergy with other teams;Provide technical advice and guidance and capacity building to implementing partners and manage the submission of financial and narrative reports;Ensure quality monitoring and reporting of the programme:Manage the monitoring of programme implementation and finance using result-based management tools;Contribute to project and donor reportsProvide technical support to the Child Protection Specialist/Project Team Leader on inter-agency coordination related activities by attending meetings, events, and participating in working groups and committees as needed;Coordinate with other UN agencies, government departments and implementing partners to ensure the projects capacity development programme is harmonized and aligned with other in-country efforts.Provide advocacy, knowledge management and communication on violence against children, girls and women:Identify best practices and lessons learned to guide programme improvement and strategy planning;Develop knowledge management strategies, products and methodologies on ending violence against women and girls.
