In response to the ongoing crisis,Mercy Corps is scaling-up food security, non-food items, nutrition, protection, livelihoods, and water sanitation hygiene (WASH) activities in Dikwa, Ngala, and Jere Local Government Areas in Borno State to address emergency needs.General Position SummaryMercy Corps is looking for a Warehouse Officer responsible for overseeing and managing the provision of materials, equipment, and supplies for all Mercy Corps programs in Dikwa/NgalaThe Warehouse Officer will oversee the reception, storage and distribution of all items and supervise warehouse staff.Essential Job FunctionsMaintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational policies and procedures.Complies with Mercy Corps warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement when needed.Preparing monthly or biweekly reports that analyze variances; initiating corrective actions.Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional development.Builds and maintains external partners hence builds on collaboration , influencing and impactContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Handle all record keeping and tracking within the required timeframeCoordinate laborer’s activities and ensure there are enough laborers to support that activities (loading, unloading, restacking, etc)Conduct a physical count of commodities on hand at the end of every day or every week as needed, and reconcile that account with information in the NFI Tracking System database.
